schools?

Franklin:

Sisk:

That is in the purview of the School
District who uses the figures of
their attendance records for
calculating their school needs. We
do estimate population levels based
upon subdivisions.

Developers, have you discussed
anything with the School District
regarding where these children would
go to school?

Wall:

Sisk:

Mayer:

We've attended both of the
Roundtable Discussions on Schools.
By the time this project is built
out, there is hope that the bond
issue that will be voted on in 1993
will have some impact on that. When
our homes come on line in 1993 and
1994, it won't be sudden impact.

That pre-supposes that the bond
issue is going to pass and the
schools, which would take 2-3 years
to build. By that time we're going
to have portable stacked on top of
portables. Given that, I'm not
going to support the project.

If there is any chance of this
project being approved, we would
have to have it phased and
contingent that the schools be
there.

Wall:

The representative of the School
District stated that schools have
always been built after the need has
arisen. One of the BVSD's biggest
concerns was to over build and have
empty school rooms, as they have now
in Boulder.

Mayer:

We already have the need. We know
we're going to be hitting up against
maximum even with portables. What
happens when we exceed the need?

Lathrop:

I have a balance concern. I
understand the problem with the

10
