Mr. Fleming not only provided valuable <br /> guidance to the City's employees but also managed millions of dollars <br /> of major capital projects and helped to stregthen the local economy <br /> and City's finances. Some of Mr. Fleming's noteworthy accomplishments <br /> include: reconstruction of the US 36/McCaslin Interchange, flood recov- <br /> +1. <br /> yy ery efforts from the 2013 flood, construction of the South Street down- <br /> town pedestrian gateway, implementing the downtown patio program <br /> and other business incentives, transitioning from an annual to a biennial <br /> budget process, and renovating and expanding the Louisville Recreation/ <br /> Senior Center and Memory Square Pool. Deputy City Manager Heather <br /> Balser will assume Mr. Fleming's duties upon his departure and the City <br /> Council will begin the process for recruitment of a new City Manager. <br /> SUMMER CONSTRUCTION UPDATE <br /> Multiple large capital improvement projects are scheduled in Downtown and Old Town in the next few <br /> months. City staff asks for your understanding during construction and reminds everyone to exercise <br /> caution when driving, biking, or walking through construction zones. <br /> • South Street Underpass - The South Street Underpass is underway. Work includes utility, concrete, and <br /> plaza construction. Construction will impact the adjacent area for the remainder of 2017. <br /> • Redevelopment East of Railroad - The DELO and DELO Plaza projects east of the railroad between <br /> Griffith Street and South Street are moving forward. Work includes street, stormwater, and waterline <br /> construction to serve this new neighborhood. This work will impact the adjacent area for the remainder <br /> of 2017. <br /> • Street Resurfacing - Multiple roads in town will be resurfaced this summer. Concrete work needed prior <br /> to resurfacing has been scheduled. Streets to be resurfaced include: Centennial Parkway (Via Appia <br /> to Cherry Street), Dillon Road (W. Dahlia Street to Club Circle), Nighthawk Circle, Grant Avenue (Pine <br /> Street to Hutchinson Street), Grant Avenue (Caledonia Street to South Street), Jefferson Avenue (Short <br /> Street to South Street), and Front Street (Rex Street to Alley). <br /> • Water & Sewer Line Replacement - Water and sewer lines will be replaced throughout the City this sum- <br /> mer and fall. Visit the Construction Updates page on the City's website at www.LouisvilleCO.Gov/Con- <br /> struction to learn more. <br /> If you have any questions about these projects, please contact the Public Works Department at <br /> 303.335.4608 or PWorks@LouisvilleCO.Gov. <br /> SOLID WASTE & HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FEE INCREASES <br /> On May 2nd, City Council approved rate increases for the City's Solid Waste Administrative Fee and <br /> Hazardous Materials Facility Fee. These increases will become effective June 1, 2017. The Administra- <br /> tive Fee will increase from $1.55 to $2.35 per month to fund management and billing costs associated with the <br /> City's solid waste, recycling, and composting collection programs. This increase is a result of the City's imple- <br /> mentation of program budgeting in 2016. Program budgeting more accurately accounts for and allocates costs <br /> to various activities within the City. <br /> The Hazardous Materials Management Facility Fee (HMMF) will increase from $0.50 to $0.55. This increase <br /> reflects small increases in ongoing operational costs. The HMMF is a partnership among Boulder County com- <br /> munities that provides for a safe location to dispose of and repurpose hazardous materials such as fuel, paint, <br /> fertilizer, batteries, and other household items.
