8/2:1/84 Page -7-
Councilman Cussen Commented he felt that with the rain and
cooler weather, now is an opportune time
to ease out of the restrictions; whereas
if we go through the cycle we could end
up with another dry spell in autumn/summer
and be hit with that big demand of the catch
up and would create a pressure problem for us.
He wondered of the wisdom of waiting another
nine days versus dealing with it now?
Mr. Schuler agreed that the timing would be
great after the rain we have had to lift
the restrictions totally and had they been
able to test the plant at the 6MGD they
would be recommending that very thing.
He reitereted that they felt it was very
important to get the operators well trained
and run the plant for a period of time at
a 6 MGD rate to be absolutely certain of
the chemical dosage and a high quality water
at a high flow. They should be able to do
this tomorrow.
-'al Leiker, Supt. Water and Mr. Leiker stated that he didn't feel that
astewater Plants they were able to run the treatment plant
long enough to verify testing. The quality
of water from the sed basin was reduced in
2 hours due to the soda ash feeder Mr.
Schuler spoke of and it would require back-
washing more often. It was his feeling that
after the automatic feeder is in place they
will be better able to find out proper dosages
of chemicals as required and get the plant
stablized. Therefore, favored going with
Mr. Schuler's recommendation. Another thing
he wished to determine was where is the peak
in the plant for its treated water capacity?
Councilman Cussen Had worked out different scenarios of going
to the three day watering restriction cycle
and distributed these to all councilmembers.
Notification of New Discussion was held among councilmembers of
Watering Restrictions the best and most cost effective method of
sending out notifications of the new water-
ing restrictions. Decision was by bulk-rate
mailing assuring that everyone would receive
the notice. The last delivery service had
missed approximately one-third of the resi-
dents as reported by Councilman Cussen.
