Louisville City Council Meeting <br />September 21, 2004 <br />Page 10 of 11 <br /> <br />Council Discussion: Council member Keany asked if the Steering Committee has <br />discussed hiring a CMGC and agrees with the proposal. Mayor Sisk stated the library is a <br />very complex and unique facility and voiced his satisfaction with the proposal. Council <br />member Marsella stated there is an advantage to have a professional review the bids and <br />provide the Steering Committee the ability to look at competitive bids. Council member <br />Van Pelt voiced her support of the proposed process. Council member Brown concurred. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Marsella moved that Council authorize hiring a <br />Construction Manager/General Contractor for the library project. Council member Brown <br />seconded the motion. Roll call vote was taken. The motion carded by a vote of 7-0. <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Julie Boyd updated Council on the process for selling the current <br />library building. <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br /> <br />No items to report. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons requested a status report on the Comprehensive Plan Update. <br /> <br />Planning Director Paul Wood reported on the September 16 Public Workshop, where 25 <br />people were in attendance. He outlined the next steps in the Comprehensive Plan <br />process, which include the following: Testing of Land Use Scenarios; Public Workshop <br />#3 in November, and additional public outreach. Staff will next meet with community <br />groups. <br /> <br />Council member Brown stressed the importance of the Comprehensive Plan Update to <br />the community. <br /> <br />City Manager Simmons distributed department reports from Public Works, Recreation <br />and Senior Services, and the Building Safety division. He updated Council on a report <br />from RTD, and departmental budget discussion. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk reported on the following: · Centennial Lots ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 23 <br /> · Future joint meeting with Louisville school principals <br /> · Police facility budget recap <br /> · The transportation bill in Washington has been delayed <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
