I la Cityof <br />Om Louisville <br />PARKS & RECREATION <br />Memorandum <br />To: Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board <br />From: Allan Gill, PLA, Parks Project Manager <br />Date: December 7, 2017 <br />Re: Declining Cottonwood Trees — Cost Estimate for Fencing and <br />Trail Alignment Revisions <br />The cost estimates included in the November 2, 2017 Parks & Public Landscaping Advisory Board <br />Communication have been revised to address comments from the City Forester and Board. <br />• Fencing around the east tree has been changed to a 45' radius and fencing around the west <br />tree remains at a 40' radius. <br />• The trail alignment formalizes a social trail south of the trees and is a little longer to provide a <br />gentler detour around the trees. <br />• A design solution which may impact maintenance will be needed where the fencing intercepts <br />the retaining walls. <br />Option 1, estimated costs for six foot chain link fencing around the trees and a crusher fines trail <br />detour come to: <br />340 LF of fencing x $42/LF = $14,280 <br />270 LF of crusher fines x 8' wide x $4.30 = $9,288 <br />Subtotal =$23,568 <br />Plus 20% contingency +$4,714 <br />Total $28,282 <br />Option 2, estimated costs for six foot chain link fencing around the trees and a concrete trail detour <br />come to: <br />340 LF of fencing x $42/LF = $14,280 <br />270 LF of concrete trail x 8' wide x $12.90 = $27,864 <br />Subtotal =$42,144 <br />Plus 20% contingency +8,429 <br />Total = $50,573 <br />Option 3, estimated costs for six foot wrought iron fencing (the same as what is at the white house) <br />around the trees and a crusher fines trail detour come to: <br />340 LF of fencing x $55/LF = $18,700 <br />270 LF of concrete trail x 8' wide x $4.30 = $9,288 <br />Subtotal = $27,988 <br />Plus 20% contingency +5,598 <br />Total = $33,586 <br />4 <br />
