I la Cityof Om Louisville PARKS & RECREATION Memorandum To: Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board From: Allan Gill, PLA, Parks Project Manager Date: December 7, 2017 Re: Declining Cottonwood Trees — Cost Estimate for Fencing and Trail Alignment Revisions The cost estimates included in the November 2, 2017 Parks & Public Landscaping Advisory Board Communication have been revised to address comments from the City Forester and Board. • Fencing around the east tree has been changed to a 45' radius and fencing around the west tree remains at a 40' radius. • The trail alignment formalizes a social trail south of the trees and is a little longer to provide a gentler detour around the trees. • A design solution which may impact maintenance will be needed where the fencing intercepts the retaining walls. Option 1, estimated costs for six foot chain link fencing around the trees and a crusher fines trail detour come to: 340 LF of fencing x $42/LF = $14,280 270 LF of crusher fines x 8' wide x $4.30 = $9,288 Subtotal =$23,568 Plus 20% contingency +$4,714 Total $28,282 Option 2, estimated costs for six foot chain link fencing around the trees and a concrete trail detour come to: 340 LF of fencing x $42/LF = $14,280 270 LF of concrete trail x 8' wide x $12.90 = $27,864 Subtotal =$42,144 Plus 20% contingency +8,429 Total = $50,573 Option 3, estimated costs for six foot wrought iron fencing (the same as what is at the white house) around the trees and a crusher fines trail detour come to: 340 LF of fencing x $55/LF = $18,700 270 LF of concrete trail x 8' wide x $4.30 = $9,288 Subtotal = $27,988 Plus 20% contingency +5,598 Total = $33,586 4
