XI. Art Grants. The City of Louisville Art Grant Application form was approved as is with one
minor change (second paragraph, remove an "or" between the $15,00 and (or) no greater than
33% of a project's total budget). The applications are due in mid January.
XII. Fall season recap: Andy Schwartz has done AV for our two science lectures in November
and has done a great job. He brings the projector, microphone, speakers, and sets everything
up and syncs it with the presenter's personal computer power point.
Please email photos of events to Adam so he can post on facebook.
Feedback from the two lectures included have more science lectures! They were both well
attended. Some ideas: Dinosaurs. Blake will look into something about Triceratops. Debbie
will look into a Rock/Fossil lecture.
Adam talked about the LCC Facebook page and Facebook ads. Our budget is $15-$30 per
event. Facebook uses metatagging. For instance, if you like a NASA page, we can target your
Facebook page for the Space Lecture Series ad. The LCC Facebook page has hit 300 followers. It
is also "verified" which helps our numbers. However, people under the age of 25 are not on
Facebook, they are on Instagram, and we can link the two together. Katie mentioned the city's
Youth Advisory Board might be a good resource for reaching teens.
XIII. 2018 Programming. There are still a few spots open on our 2018 winter/spring calendar of
events. Debbie, Adam and Jennifer will form a team to look at programming. By the end of the
year Jen will talk to Rodney and Liz will double check on the Boulder Bassoons. We still need to
fill out the Leads for the next 4 months.
XIV. Staff Update Katie stated the construction on the pool house adjoining the Art Center will
begin soon, and demo is slated to begin Dec. 5th. By April or May, a better entrance to the Art
Center will be in place. Before then, we will need to access the Art Center by the back
door. Tammy mentioned rodent control during demolition should be of concern.
Katie has hired a short term marketing intern for December, Joann Bell.
Tapestry Theater, one of our Grant recipients, will be performing November 30 - December 3.
The Parade of Lights will be December 1st.
The City has received a few applicants for the LCC. We will need 4 new people
The Public Art Policy will go before the City Council on Dec. 19th.
The Street Faire will be held for 8 weeks next summer.
XV. Chair's report. Jennifer invited everyone to a potluck at her house on Monday December
18th, in lieu of our regular meeting. The LCC thanks Liz, Tammy, and Gina for their service on
the LCC these past few years. Our next meeting will be January 18th.
XVI. Adjourn. Angie called to adjourn, Gina seconded, all in favor.
2
