Michael A. Koertje
887 Welsh Ct.
Louisville, CO 80027
(303) 926-0551 ~ - _
KOERTJE(a~msn.com
October 22, 2008
Mayor Chuck Sisk
City of Louisville
749 Main St.
Louisville, CO 800027
Dear Mayor Sisk:
My current appointment to the City of Louisville's Historic Preservation Commission
(HPC) is to expire in the next few months. I hope that you and the other members of City
Council will consider reappointing me to the HPC. I sincerely enjoy my work, on the
HPC,and feel that it is crucial to-Louisville,.particularly given the issues facing our city at
present.
As you know, I have been a member of the HPC since Council first appointed it in 2003.
I have served as Chair and Vice-Chair and been closely involved in the drafting of the .
initial historic preservation ordinance as well as subsequent additions, the HPC's rules of
procedure, and many other matters. I am also very familiar with the HPC's essential-
functions, such as demolitions review and public hearings. This past July, I attended the
National Alliance of Preservation Commissions Forum in New Orleans on behalf of the
HPC, and have attended other preservation-related trainings since 2003. This year I have
also spent considerable personal time on preservation issues that were not necessarily
HPC business, but that are important to historic preservation in Louisville.
If you have any questions, please contact me. I look forward to the opportunity to
interview with Council.
Sincerely,
Michael A. Koe
11
