Business Retention and Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 3, 2018 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />o Recent Business Survey — Summary / Highlights — Pro & Con <br />o Introduce New City Manager and New Chief Building Official <br />o Publish & Discuss BRaD Mission Statement <br />o Discuss Strategic Vision for Louisville regarding Business and <br />Employment <br />o Business Corridors Discussion - (Strengths / Weaknesses, specific <br />areas e.g., McCaslin / Sam's Club redevelopment, Highway 42 sub <br />area, etc) <br />o Provide SHORT Follow -Up Survey Sheet for attendees to complete <br />at Meeting <br />The Committee discussed sending out a 'Save the Date' email to all businesses in <br />the City database as well as announcement on the City website, suggesting a date <br />in late April or early May — exact date TBD. General discussion of location and time <br />of day, with the Committee leaning toward an late afternoon 5:OOpm start for <br />mingling / networking and 5:30 formal presentation commencement. Location and <br />specific date to be vetted and presented to the Committee for assessment / <br />approval at its February meeting. <br />5. BRaD Mission Statement Discussion — continued: The Committee discussed <br />and further revised the BRaD Mission Statement. A copy of the Mission Statement <br />as so revised is attached to these minutes. <br />VII. Retention Visits. Mr. DeJong reviewed for the Committee recent Business <br />retention visits. <br />VIII. ED Update. Mr. DeJong provided an update on recent Louisville business / <br />economic events of note. <br />IX. REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS. <br />- Several Committee members commented on the limited utilization of Social <br />Media by the City, and offered to work with staff to present suggestions for <br />improvement to City Council. <br />X. POTENTIAL DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING. The Committee <br />identified the following topics for potential discussion at the next meeting to be held <br />on February 5, 2018: <br />Louisville Building Permit Process and discussion (Rob Zuccaro and Chad <br />Root presenting); <br />Suggested Improvements to City utilization of Social Media in its public <br />notices and communication. Discuss budget / staffing issues affecting same. <br />XI. ADJOURN — The meeting adjourned at 10:05 am <br />
