Open Space Advisory Board
April 11, 2018 Minutes
X. Discussion Items for Study Session with City Council on April 24th
Laura noted that participation from OSAB members is encouraged, if at all possible.
Laura also asked Mayor Muckle if there are specific topics City Council want to discuss - has
not heard back from him yet. Jeff noted that OSAB has asked for "time with City Council" in the
past and it's up to us how to use it. Jeff suggested that OSAB focus on strategic thinking re: 2 -
year budget and make them aware of challenges that we are dealing with as a Board.
Fiona suggested including a short but compelling case for wayfinding. Mike suggested
talking about shift from acquisitions to maintenance and restoration. Laura mentioned the
Warembourg Fishing Pond project as an example of a restoration project. Jeff suggested a 1 -
topic per slide power point as to what our priorities are and how it affects future resources and
tax reauthorization. Missy suggested using more specific words than just "wayfinding" which
focus on comments we have received from residents and also suggested not talking about
"dropping" focus on acquisitions.
Ember will distribute Laura's draft or Power Point slides to OSAB for comments, which
are due by Sunday 4/15/2018 as Ember's deadline is Tues. 4/17/2018.
XI. Discussion Items for Joint Meeting with City of Lafayette
Boulder County will send presenters to a planned joint meeting, which is scheduled in
place of regular OSAB meeting (May 9, 7:OOpm); Lafayette looks like they will attend to but this
is not firm yet.
A. Boulder County Parks and Open Space will be presenting on the following:
1. Prairie dog management policy on jointly owned agricultural fields
2. Tenant responsibilities on the property
3. Use of tenant fees
4. Sale of crops
5. Tenants crop/grazing plans for 2018 on jointly owned properties
B. We plan a 3 -way discussion of Mayhoffer Management Plan
C. We would like to discuss with Lafayette:
1. Lake to Lake trail coordination
2. Ranger program
3. Co -promoting educational events
4. Baseline property update
If other ideas occur, please email them to Ember for consideration/inclusion.
XII. Discussions Items for the Next Meeting on Wednesday, May 9, 2018
NA - Joint meeting with Boulder County & Lafayette (see above).
XIII. Adjourn
The meeting adjourned at 9:20 pm.
5
