IC Cityoj
Im Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
VI. Public comments on Items Not on the Agenda:
Sherry Summer expressed her concerns to the Board,
noting the removal of many trees in town, but not a lot
being replaced. Another concern is that the City doesn't
have a tree inventory. She would like to see the City
make this more of a priority and asked how this might
be done. Dean explained the budget is going towards
staff time mostly spent with safety -related work on
existing trees with a lack of staff for planting trees. The
Board agreed this is an area that will need to be
addressed. Especially with the potential removal of so
many ash trees in relation to EAB.
VII. Median Renovation Landscape Design Conceptual
Options Discussion: The Board's recommendation to
Council will be to maintain the existing concrete
aggregate with repair as needed. Upgrade existing
irrigation systems as needed to better maintain turf.
Replace turf over time with a low water use turf. As ash
trees are removed, replace with more of a variety of
trees that can be better maintained and low water use
turf. This turf would also replace shrub plantings for
lower water use, less herbicide use and less staff time
for maintenance. The end noses of the medians would
have large planters with colorful seasonal plantings.
Some of these could potentially be replaced over time
with public art elements as budgeting allows. The roses
and plantings in the median on South Boulder Road
would remain with repair as needed.
VIII. Key Performance Indicators Update and
Discussion: PPLAB is being asked to evaluate more
things now and the Board will need to be aware of the
timeline associated with these items so they can be
added earlier in the year to our agendas for discussion.
IX. Scorecard Discussion: Scorecards are a part of the
KPI. Changes the Board will consider making to the
scorecards include categorizing parks by size/use,
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335-4735 • FAX (303) 335-4738
www.Iouisvilleco.gov
3
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
