NONE

Davidson moved that Council approve the Consent Agenda, seconded by Levihn. All in favor.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
APPROVAL OF BILLS
APPROVAL OF BID AWARD - LOUISVILLE ARBORETUM ROCK SEATING
AREA

PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA

Levihn excused himself as he is the Principal at Louisville Elementary.

John Martinis, 1935 Tincup, Louisville, Colorado, represented the Parent/Teachers Group at
Louisville Elementary, spoke concerning a proposal for building at Louisville Elementary. Two weeks
ago he spoke to the Boulder Valley School District about this.

Keany excused himself since his wife is President of the PTG at the school.

Martinis continued that they have overcrowding at the school and the proposed building plan would
fix the problem and be good for the overall community. They were looking at building a new gym
facility. In doing that, they can then convert a lunchroom, which is also used as a K-2 gym, into two
classrooms and then convert the present gym back into a lunchroom, which is what it was originally
designed for. Also, use that for a lower grade gym. The Boulder Valley School District could then
remove some temporary classrooms, saving them money. There are 572 children at the school this
year and they are projecting 600 next year. There are three other schools in BVSD of a very similar
design and square footage. Aurora 7 has 240 students, Lafayette 471, and Mesa 339, so they are
pretty crowded for this kind of school. The building would solve some educational issues with over
crowding, safety issues, and BVSD will save money. He stated that the PTG would like the BVSD
and the City of Louisville to consider working together to build this gym. He understood that there
are funds available to the City for these kinds of educational purposes.

Karen Kline, 815 Trail Ridge Drive, Louisville, Colorado, spoke of the great need for the new gym.

Davidson stated that the City has a School Impact Fee for growth related impacts on schools, such
as overcrowding. He thought a gym at LES would be high on the list of how the moneys should be
spent. He pointed out that it does not accumulate enough dollars for the City itself to fund it, so the
major funding would have to come from the BVSD. He felt it was something that the Council would
look seriously at making a heavy contribution toward.

Mayer suggested they go to the School Board, as they were saying conceming the Bond issue in 1993
and the refunding, they should have approximately $20 million available. He felt some of it could be
spent in Louisville.
