Construction History: "There appear to be no alterations except enclosure of basement
windows, date unknown, and deck in back."
Historical background: "Little historic background is known about the house except that
Mary and John Weaver purchased the lot for $375 in 1909 and shortly thereafter a
home was built. Known in Louisville as the Berry Home after residents from the 1940s-
1950s."
Significance: "represents a type, period or method of construction"; "associated with
sig. events / patterns"
Statement of significance: "This house is one of three Edwardian Vernaculars in
Louisville. Although it is not the best example of this style it retains locational and
physical integrity. It addresses the RP3 concerns of clarifying the physical form, time,
place and economic functions of rail towns, especially movement west from tracks."
Sources
The preceding research is based on a review of relevant and available online County property records,
census records, oral history interviews, and related resources, and Louisville directories, newspaper
articles, maps, files, obituary records, survey records, and historical photographs from the collection of
the Louisville Historical Museum.
6
