City Council Business Retention & Development Committee
Meeting Minutes
January 14, 2008

Hogan also noted that ZVC is requesting $3000 to continue the program in February
while still awaiting approval of the funding from City Council. Should the full funding be
approved, that $3000 would be charged towards that budget line. If the full funding is not
approved by City Council, the $3000 would come out of the general BRaD budget. The
subcommittee recommended approval of the $3000 interim costs.

Fleming noted that staff has determined a process to better monitor the project which
includes quarterly meetings with the vendor. He added that a key component to the
continuation of the program into 2009 will be whether or not merchants want to take over
the funding after 2008.

Caranci added that the Chamber plans to get its city-wide business committee involved
in promoting the project to local businesses.

Keany noted that the DBA is supportive of the project and will do what it can to help.

Fleming added that the biggest contribution that both the Chamber and the DBA can
make is to continue to promote the campaign with all businesses.

Dalton moved to approve the $3000 funding and to recommend approval of the full
proposal to City Council. Sackett seconded the motion, it was approved unanimously.

2008 PRIORITIES

Hogan presented the members with a laundry list of projects that the group could take
on in 2008. She asked members to prioritize the list and determine what could
reasonably be accomplished this year.

Lathrop noted that he felt the Search Engine Optimization was a critical component for
2008 and asked if included in this could be some new web elements such as links to
information for visitors.

Fleming suggested the following:
?
Should the group consider cluster analyses to determine if Louisville has any
key industries that need support to gain a critical mass of companies in town?
?
Should the DBA and Chamber consider merging so as not to duplicate services?
?
Retention visits are key and should be continued.
?
How do we best market Louisville in the metro area (to both businesses and
tourists)?

Keany stated that the CEO forum and retention visits should be prioritized.

After group discussion the following priorities were agreed to:
?
Research public verses public/private economic development organization
?
ICSC Spring Conference
?
Search Engine Optimization for Louisville Colorado Biz web site with possible
new design elements
?
Educational Forums
?
CEO Forum Event
