City Council Legal Review Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 21, 2020 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />City Attorney Kelly suggested amending Title 1.04.030A with more inclusive <br />language as a way to start the process. <br />Members were supportive of adding more inclusive language in the City's <br />documents and processes in general and will begin looking at how to do it both <br />for items going forward and in older documents while recognizing this needs to fit <br />in with other priorities. <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION — REVIEW OF JUDGE & DEPUTY JUDGE <br />APPLICATIONS <br />Members discussed what process they would like to use for the review. <br />Ultimately they would like to interview 6-8 candidates. <br />Members discussed what qualifications they are looking for in candidates and <br />weighted them. <br />• # of years of practice <br />• judge experience <br />• Municipal law experience <br />• Experience with children <br />• School/professional training <br />• References <br />• Current employment <br />• Past employment <br />• Life experience <br />• Judicial philosophy <br />• Demeanor <br />• Relatability <br />• Attitude toward Louisville <br />• Areas of legal expertise & experience <br />• Work ethic <br />• Organizational ability <br />• Efficiency <br />• Demonstrated interest in public service <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION — REVIEW OF BACK UP PROSECUTING <br />ATTORNEY APPLICATIONS <br />Continued to next meeting. <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING <br />Next meeting Tuesday, February 25 at 8:15 am. <br />April meeting will discuss retail marijuana FAQs. <br />
