City0 <br />f <br />'6Louisville Cultural Council Meeting Minutes <br />COLORADO -SINCE 1878 <br />Thursday, July 16th, 2020 <br />Virtual Meeting <br />4:OOPM <br />We promote arts and culture in Louisville. We program cultural events, <br />advocate for and support artists, and advise City Council. By doing so <br />we engage our diverse social, cultural, and creative community. <br />This meeting will be held electronically. Residents interested in listening to the meeting should visit <br />the City's website here to link to the meeting: <br />https://www.louisvilleco.gov/government/boards-commissions/cultural-council <br />The Council will accommodate public comments as much as possible during the meeting. Anyone <br />may also email comments to the Council prior to the meeting at KZoss(@LouisvilleC0.gov. <br />I. Call to Order 3 min <br />II. Roll Call <br />III. Present: Adam Sloat, Debbie Davies, Mark Cathcart, Leah Franks, Tami Owen, Kim Poletti, Kate <br />Ward, Katie Zoss <br />IV. Absent: Robby Pitt, Rachel Weaver, Beth McLennan <br />V. Approval of Today's Agenda Kate approved Mark Seconded <br />VI. Public Comments: Items Not on the Agenda, Kurt Kowar is director of public works and utilities <br />joined the meeting. City has been investing in road safety, concrete islands on pine street. Painted <br />streets from 2018 were a huge hit. Median Master plan, looking to improve the look and design of <br />city improvements. Engage Louisville process to get the community input, but looking for guidance <br />from the LCC. Mark asked about method, materials and artists input, similar to the ARtirondack <br />chair project. Kurt is looking for any input from the LCC. $22sf funds available for the areas <br />available. Mark asked about a deadline, Kurt said in the next 2 months if possible. Kim requests <br />the presentation from Kurt, Katie will pass it on to LCC. 17 total intersections, 2 - 8 spots to fill in. <br />Discussion about proposal from Kurt, Similar process to the ARtirondack chair project game up. <br />Kate asked how to interact with the Engage Louisville, we don't need to as it's a voting platform, but <br />not a decision making committee. Katie will confirm with Kurt about the involvement of EL. Public <br />art Subcommittee can meet to discuss what the LCC can do to help. <br />VI I. Correction and/or Approval of May Meeting Minutes - Kim approves, Kate seconds <br />VIII. Chair's Report (Adam) - No Report <br />IX. Staff Report (Katie) The art center has reopened for groups up to 10. City is making plans that <br />Safer at Home will be in place until further notice. Working with economic development to help with <br />outdoor dining, making it more attractive. Specifically the dead zone issue in front of city hall and <br />near chase bank. Integral Steps do art programs for families. They are looking at 4 weeks of <br />programing on weekends that would cost $2000, Looking for funding from the LCC. <br />X. Budget Update (Katie) Arts programing, $20000, we have $16, 700 left. Money allocated for <br />cancelled events can be used for public arts/art projects. Mark motioned to accept the opportunity <br />for the Integral Steps, Kim seconds. The project will be promoted by the LCC as part of marketing. <br />Debbie asking if the money rolls over to 2021 if we don't use it, it does not. Katie reported there <br />will most likely be a 25% budget cut in 2021. Kim asked if we can use programming money can be <br />used public art, Katie will look into it. <br />XI. Sculpture Installation Update (Kate). Kate updated from the sculptor, he is starting and will <br />continue to update. <br />XII. ARTirondack Chair Program Update and Discussion (Kim) Chairs have been allocated and are <br />slowly being returned. Raffle needs to be marketed on various platforms, and chairs need plaques, <br />where do they go for display, how do we secure them.
