LL Cityqf <br />Louisville Cultural Council Meeting Minutes <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />Thursday, August 20, 2020 <br />Virtual Meeting <br />4:OOPM <br />We promote arts and culture in Louisville. We program cultural events, <br />advocate for and support artists, and advise City Council. By doing so <br />we engage our diverse social, cultural, and creative community. <br />This meeting will be held electronically. Residents interested in listening to the meeting should visit <br />the City's website here to link to the meeting: <br />https://www.louisvilleco.gov/government/boards-commissions/cultural-council <br />The Council will accommodate public comments as much as possible during the meeting. Anyone <br />may also email comments to the Council prior to the meeting at KZoss(cDLouisvilleCO.gov. <br />Call to Order Meeting Called or order at 4:07 <br />II. Roll Call <br />III. Present: Debbie Davies, Robby Pitt, Mark Cathcart, Leah Franks, Tami Owen, Kate Ward, Katie <br />Zoss, Beth McLennan joined 5 minutes late <br />IV. Absent: Adam Sloat, Rachel Weaver, Kim Polletti <br />V. Approval of Today's Agenda Kate approved Mark Seconded <br />VI. Public Comments: Items Not on the Agenda (Eric Ryterski) Magic Mercantile project on Main <br />Street. He has built an interactive Magic Little Library, with a flower that lights up and grows, can <br />use smart phone during the day or light up at night. Would like to put it on main street in front of <br />Remax. Would be in place while main street is shut down. Leah asked is it considered public art, <br />Katie said it would be, especially as a temporary thing. Kate asked about resources, Eric replied it <br />is self funded, he's wondering if he would just need permission from the city. The LCC can help <br />Eric get approval for his project, and introduce him to the members and Katie Zoss. Mark motions <br />to approve Erics project to be on main street through the road closure, Kate seconds. <br />VII. Minutes for July, Mark approves, Leah seconded <br />VIII. Chair's Report (Debbie) No report <br />IX. Staff Report (Katie) City is finding ways to reopen facilities, the new regulations require only 25 <br />people, so steinbaugh pavilion is still closed, but working on opening up community park which can <br />accommodate up to 175 people with social distancing and no use of the structures. The Art center <br />is still capped at 10. BVSD is working with the city to use city space to help with home learning by <br />creating programs for kids on Monday's when there is no online learning. Beth asked about <br />programming funding to be used for Public Art instead, Katie said some money can easily be <br />moved, but she will look into it. LCC has over $25,000 for public art, on top of the programming <br />funds. Mark will look into options for public art. <br />X. Budget Update (Katie) Budget funding is still available, but they are encouraging online programs. <br />LCC has $12,500 available, and $25,000 in arts funding. <br />XI. ARTirondack Chair Program Update and Discussion (Katie) There has been good feedback from <br />the community about the chairs. Online entry form is ready, paper form will go out soon, along <br />with information about how to enter, drawing is in October. <br />XI I. Sculpture Installation Update (Kate/Debbie/Katie) Nothing to report, Kate will keep the LCC <br />updated as she knows more <br />XIII. Crosswalk Beautifucation Project - Katie discussed with the city council about the crosswalks <br />beautification project, there is a discussion amongst local artist to get an estimate for costs and <br />options. If the project moves forward, the LCC could be involved to help with call to artists and <br />ideas.
