6

Not long before Leah Fauson died in 1987, she transferred ownership of 637 Lincoln to three
people: her brother, Albert Wilbaut; her daughter, Rosemary Fauson Dirkes; and her son,
Herman Fauson. In 1988, they sold the property.

Clark Family Ownership, 1988-1994

David and Susan Clark purchased 637 Lincoln in 1988 and sold it in 1994.

Schmidt and Arenales Ownership, 1994-2007, and the Creation of the Schmidt Subdivision

In 1994, Bennett Schmidt and Stephanie Arenales purchased 637 Lincoln. In 2001, they then
purchased the house to the south, 625 Lincoln. In 2003, they created a covenant agreement to
consolidate the four lots (Lots 1-4, Block 10, Pleasant Hill Addition) represented by 625 Lincoln
and 637 Lincoln into a single ownership so that they could connect the two houses into one
adjoining living space. According to the Improvement Location Survey provided by the applicant
at the time of application to the City of Louisville, 637 Lincoln is located approximately 12
inches from the property line with 625 Lincoln, and 625 Lincoln is located approximately 3.4
feet from the shared property line. The applicants did join the homes together by building an
enclosed passageway between the buildings that some current residents still remember, and
they lived in the joined houses. The owners are said to have made a passageway from the
master bedroom of 637 Lincoln and removed the kitchen in 625 Lincoln, in effect creating one
larger home for their family.

In 2007, owners Schmidt and Arenales applied to the City of Louisville for a request for a minor
subdivision plat to divide the one parcel into two parcels again. This was approved and the
passageway between the houses was removed. 637 Lincoln was then given the legal description
of Lot 1, Schmidt Subdivision, and 625 Lincoln was given the legal description of Lot 2, Schmidt
Subdivision.

In 2007, Schmidt and Arenales sold 637 Lincoln to Sandra Baine. (They also sold 625 Lincoln.)

Sandra Baine Ownership, 2007-2021

Sandra Baine purchased 637 Lincoln in 2007. In 2008, this house was one of five homes selected
to appear on the Holiday Home Tour organized by the Louisville Historical Commission and
Louisville Historical Museum.

Hamlington Family Ownership, Starting 2021

In early 2021, Sandra Baine sold 637 Lincoln to Peter and Barbara Hamlington. They also own
625 Lincoln, since 2016.

The preceding research is based on a review of relevant and available online County property records, census
records, oral history interviews, Louisville directories, and Louisville Historical Museum maps, files, obituary
records, and historical photographs from the collection of the Louisville Historical Museum.
