February 10, 2021 Minutes Continued: Citizen Comments Re: Redtail Ridge
From: Laurie Draper
Sent: Tuesday, February 9, 2021 4:23 PM
To: Ember Brignull
Subject: Please Protect Louisville Open Space!
Dear OSAB Members,
Thank you for serving our community in this capacity.
Thankfully, the new General Development Plan for Redtail Ridge asks for 3.1 million sq. ft. of buildings,
not including roads or parking lots, which is down from the 6 million sq. ft. proposed last year. As you can
see from the maps submitted by Brue Baukol, however, plans are to scatter those buildings all over the
400 acre site instead of clustering them together. This dispersal takes away land that could be turned to
open space for the residents and wildlife of Louisville. The maps also show Brue Baukol's plan to
exterminate more than 100 acres of the site's 142 acres of active prairie dog colony.
It is not too late for Louisville to insist on a design that allows for significantly more open space at Redtail
Ridge!
Louisville's municipal code requires that the "natural features" of a site be preserved as much as possible
during development (16.16.010.D): these include vegetation, trees, waterways, and wildlife habitat. THE
ONLY WAY TO PROTECT AS MUCH OF THE SITE'S NATURAL FEATURES AS POSSIBLE IS TO SET
ASIDE AS MUCH OPEN SPACE AS POSSIBLE.
The OS Advisory Board plays a crucial role in determining the GDP for this site and its open space
dedication. Please help Louisville retain and protect as much of our open space as possible during this
development.
Thank you,
Laurie & Doug Johnson
804 Spyglass Circle
Louisville, CO 80027
21 of 77
