<br />CITY HIRES ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR <br /> <br />City Manager Malcolm Fleming recently an- <br />nounced that Bonnie Star has been hired as the <br />City's Director of Economic <br />Development. Fleming stated <br />"Bonnie comes to us with <br />terrific experience, outstand- <br />ing references, a proven track <br />record in economic develop- <br />ment and a good sense ofhu- <br />mor!" Working in Lafayette, <br />Star helped retain and expand <br />existing businesses and recruited new ones to locate in the <br />City. Among other experience Star has a background in <br />use efforts, urban renewal, <br />affordable housing. Fleming added "I look forward to <br />Bonnie working with us to strengthen and diversify the <br />City's - and the region's - economy and help make Lou- <br />isville an even better place to live, work, play, and learn:' <br />Star starts her job in Louisville on March 11. <br /> <br /> <br />A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR <br /> <br />1 <br />and politeness. Does it require any money to think about <br />holding the door for others? Does it require money to <br />stoop over and collect trash from public areas even if you <br />think it might be a tad dirty? Does it require money to <br />offering to carry out <br />her bag of groceries? Does it require money to smile and <br />acknowledge someone, even those you have never met? <br />are a few examples of John's kind and gentle actions, <br />which are really good manners. We should emulate John <br />and John's memory and be more considerate and compas- <br />sionate to all those we meet. <br />By the reading of this newsletter, the City of Louisville <br />will have set a time for JOHN BREAUX CLEANUP <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />real question is how do we preserve John's good deeds. I <br />difficult!! Civility, humil- <br />ity, kindness, and respect should never be compromised <br />and John would be proud of all us if we remember that in <br />our daily lives!! God Bless John and thank you for mak- <br />ing Louisville a better community by your presence and <br />presents. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />You will be billed by the City for collection services as a part of your monthly water and sewer utility bill. Rates for <br />various levels of service have been established and are available on the City's web page at www.ci.louisville.co.us. Each <br />home included in the program will receive a letter from the City and Western Disposal explaining how the program <br />will be implemented in the coming months. <br />Questions regarding the single-hauler program may be emailedtopworks@ci.louisville.co.us. Additional informa- <br />tion will be forthcoming and will be available on the City's web site at www.ci.louisville.co.us. <br /> <br />What is "Single-Stream Recycling" and "Composting?" If you use your recycling and composting carts for all appropriate <br />items, you can drastically reduce the amount of trash you send to the landfill AND reduce your costs. Listed below are just <br />some of the items you will be able to recycle and compost with this new program. <br /> <br />SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLABLES <br /> <br />>office paper & opened mail <br />> newspapers, magazines, and catalogs <br />>cardboard & brown paper bags <br />>paperboard boxes (such as cereal boxes) <br />>plastics (#1-7) <br />>glass bottles and jars <br />>aluminum cans <br />>paper milk and juice cartons <br /> <br />COMPOSTABLES <br /> <br />> fruit, vegetable, and meat scraps <br />>coffee grounds & dairy products (eggs) <br />wet shredded paper <br />> food-soiled paper or cardboard <br />> paper napkins and paper towels <br />> plant materials <br />grass clippings, leaves, weeds, flowers <br />woody waste up to 6" in diameter <br /> <br />
