Single-family starts rose 4.2% in May while multi -family starts were up <br />2.4%. On a year -over -year basis, housing starts were up 50.3% in May, due in part to the steep decline in activity during the early stage of the <br />pandemic last year. According to the Case-Shiller 20-City home price index, home prices were up 14.9% year -over -year in April versus up 13.4% <br />year -over -year in March.
