L C'il tyof
0
Louisville
PARKS, RECREATION & OPEN SPACE
MEMORANDUM
To: Open Space Advisory Board
From: Open Space Division
Date: September 8, 2021
Re: Staff Updates
General:
1. The Wayfinding Consultant Services contract is underway and the team is setting the project
schedule, identifying partners, and starting to look at sign materials.
2. The OSAB Wayfinding Tiger Team has completed an initial field review of signage needs on the
northern section of the Powerline Trail. The Tiger Team will be working with staff to review sign
needs and compare these needs to past signage recommendations. The team will work towards
finalizing sign recommendations along the entire length of the Powerline Trail.
3. Redtail Ridge — City Council will be taking up the Redtail Ridge development application again on
Tuesday, August 31, 2021. It is likely that a final decision on the application will be made that
evening. Please utilize the following link to the City Council Agenda, Packets and Meeting Minutes
page for results and minutes of that meeting.
https://www.louisvilleco.gov/local-government/government/city-council/city-council-meeting-
agendas-packets-minutes
4. 104t" Street Trail — The 104t" Street Connector Trail project continues to move forward towards
30% design. Part of the work done to date is topographic and survey work. This work highlighted
an issue with the preferred alignment within the ROW near the northern terminus of the trail.
There is actually not enough space in the ROW to allow construction of the trail through this area.
The project partners met recently to discuss 4 alternative alignments in this area and have come
to consensus on the preferred alternative alignment (aerial map attached). In most areas of this
trail there is very little room for adjusting the actual alignment of the trail. The goal is to have the
trail detached from the road to provide a better user experience and increase safety of the users
while also minimizing impacts to the agricultural properties that the trail will traverse. Staff
expects 60% design to be completed by October and final design by the end of the year.
C.
