Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
August 11, 2021
David asked about parcel ZZ.1 and asked why it didn't reach priority status.
Nathan said he thought it was an energy easement. He suggested that if anyone
wanted to see a location then staff might be able to add it to the tour. Nathan said he'd
follow up about the ZZ.1 parcel.
David wanted to err on the side of including properties, citing the example of the
land on the bend at Cherry Street that sold without open space consideration since it
was not on the OSAB list. David asked about deadlines for parcel inclusion. Nathan said
since it was likely to be a two -month tour, so any parcel that didn't make the September
visit, could be added for October.
Peter made a motion to evaluate the 2019 "higher and lower" priority parcels,
with the exception of the A and C properties. Laura seconded the motion. The motion
passed unanimously.
Nathan said that staff will arrange for a van for the group. Anyone uncomfortable
riding in the van can follow in their private car, as can any member of the public. Since it
is a public meeting, discussions should be limited to clarifications, and not be
deliberative. David asked if there would be a public -facing discussion of the properties
after the tour. Peter and Helen said that discussion would be at the regular November
meeting. Laura suggested starting the tours early so before it gets dark. David pointed
out that the sun will set by 6:30 in mid -October. The board agreed it could start as early
as 4:30. Helen asked whether the city could ask people in the van for their vaccination
status. Nathan said there would be a masking requirement, but he wasn't sure about
city's policy about asking about vaccination status.
10. Discussions Items for the Next Meeting on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
A. Candidate Open Space Tour (during September and October meetings)
11. Adjourn
The meeting adjourned at 8:31 pm.
