Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
December 8, 2021
Resolution of appreciation for Annaliese Steel
Whereas, Anneliese Steel has served on the City of Louisville Open Space Advisory Board since
January, 2021.
Whereas, during her virtually too brief time with us in virtual meetings, she has served as a valued
member and colleague characterized by her direct and insightful questions, intelligent perspective,
astute comments and advocacy for continuous and rigorous conservation and preservation of our lands.
Her roll up her sleeves, can -do spirit, and readiness to dive right in made an immediate difference from
day one - whether it's picking up trash, outreach, or developing solutions. She will be missed.
Whereas, Anneliese's extensive experience in recreation policy and government affairs, decade of
work in environmental and economic advocacy, and continued contributions as a volunteer board
member for University of Colorado Denver Gold Board and other non -profits, coupled with her
reasonable approach, continuous curiosity, thoughtful questions and clear communication of her
creative ideas, and her lifelong love and appreciation for nature have made her an invaluable OSAB
member.
Whereas, she volunteered to serve on the Open Space Advisory Board to serve and connect with
community and share her talents, knowledge and deep love of open space and recreation with
Louisville. Anneliese initiated and led the efforts to connect and communicate with the Louisville Parks
& Public Landscaping Advisory Board this year to work collaboratively on dog off -leash options and
spaces. She also brought her keen observations and insights to the property acquisition review,
increasing the rigor of the process and improving the results. She intuitively understands and ardently
advocates for community building and sound policies.
Now therefore, at this too soon conclusion of her time with us, her fellow members of the Open
Space Advisory Board, the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Open Space Manager take this
opportunity to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude for her clarity, depth and breadth of
knowledge, community spirit, dedication and friendship.
Let it be resolved that the members of the City of Louisville Open Space Advisory Board and City
Staff will continue to be inspired by her call to service, walk the talk approach to a broad range of
community issues, and commitment to conservation across our country and in our backyards. We wish
Anneliese great continued success in the future and welcome every future opportunity to share in her
knowledge, passionate advocacy and expertise in support of our next endeavors to manage, conserve
and protect our Open Spaces together. Thank you Anneliese.
Your friends and OSAB Colleagues,
Charles Dansforth, David Blankinship,
Helen Moshak, Jessamine Fitzpatrick
Laura Scott Denton, Peter Gowen, and Thomas
Neville
Your friends and Staff Colleagues,
Ember Brignull, Open Space Superintendent
Nathan Mosley, Parks and Recreation and Open Space
Director
11
