Senior Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
1/20/09
board's money came from many sources (such as fundraising and donations)
before the Senior Foundation (now responsible for fundraising) came into being.
Funds raised in the Silent Auction go through the Foundation. Claudine added
that one of the visions of the Senior Advisory Board is that the Board exists to
advise, not raise money. Rosalie moved and Larry seconded that Walt prepare a
12/31/08 Treasurer's Report showing budgeted vs. actual expenditures for 200B.
The motion was carried.

c, Ii ~_'\,i ,Ii

A. 2009 Budget recommendation
Walt will re-prepare the 2009 budget proposal for the next meeting. Rosalie
suggested that he add an item "Extraordinary Expenditures", One of these in
2008 was $2100 for volunteer appreciation gift cards.

B. Bulletin Board and Senior Choir approved funds update
An amount of $540 was approved for choir vests at the last meeting. It was
requested that Walt include the full amount in his corrected budget proposal.

Staff Reports-Claudine Low
The Quarterly Update and the Good Neighbors report are part of the packet.
Claudine noted that meal site numbers are up. Claudine handed out new 2009
notebooks and tabs. Larry moved and Mike seconded to include in the budget
proposal $150 extra for office supplies to cover this cost. The motion was
carried.

City Manager Malcolm Fleming has requested that all boards contribute to a
study session. Senior Advisory Board is scheduled on July 14, 2009 and are to
present what they are doing, including a work plan and objectives for the year.

Focus Groups
A. Housing-Bob Pierce
Walt attended a meeting on the County housing plan. Lafayette is
planning new facilities. The Housing Focus Group will be on the agenda at the
Louisville Housing Authority meeting on January 27. The meeting objective is
affordable housing. Bob noted that there is more subsidized housing in Louisville
than elsewhere in the county. The update to the Louisville Comprehensive Plan
was basically adopted on January 6. They are still trying to decide how often it
should be reviewed.

Bob and Walt talked to Paul Wood about the Baptist property on S. Boulder
Road, next to Cottonwood Park. Three different plans have been rejected by the
City. Paul spoke to the contractor and proposed senior housing for the area, 3
stories with elevators. This idea is in discussion. Walt commented that this
result is an excellent example of the Housing Focus group's persistence and
pointed out that senior housing is needed for all economic levels and not just for
assisted living. He stated that Paul Wood is passing on the group's message
and that a city ordinance for senior housing is being talked about.
