<br />Senior Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />2/13/2009 <br />Page 2 of2 <br /> <br />. <br />Claudine Low gave us an overview of the uOpen Government and Ethics Polley". <br />.They indude : <br /> <br />Public Involvement Policy-policy applies to all city officlals,advisory board members <br />and staff. <br /> <br />Public Involvement Policy Principles-Be inclusive,not exclusive;Purpose driven <br />show how and when decisions are made.; Constraints-oerate within an appropriate <br />budget and time frame observing existing legal parameters;Accessing information <br />in a 'timely and relevant manner;Respect for diverse interests. <br /> <br />PIP Board Roles and Responsibility: decisions reflect needs and desires of the <br />whore community. <br />Positively pursue pubfic Involvement. <br />Foster long term relationships based on respect and trust. <br />Encourage positive working elationships. <br />Insure no group, is marginalized or ignored. <br />Draw aut 1I1e silent majority and the disempowered. <br /> <br />Open Government Requirements-State Policy-"lt is declared to be a matter of <br />statewide concern and the policy of this state that the formation of public policy is <br />public business and may not be conducted in secret." <br /> <br />Open Meetings: <br />Rures apply to all "public bodies" including any board, commission, <br />committee, or task force.. An agenda must be provided and posted in a <br />public place-Iibrary, city hall,rec center, or police station--at least 72 hours <br />before meeting takes place. No substantive discussion of items not on the <br />agenda. <br /> <br />Ethics and Conflicts of Interest: Strive to promote people"s faith in government. If <br />there is a conflict of interest, excuse yourself from any discussion or <br />particiation. <br /> <br />After Claudine gave us her overview, we proceeded to visit the planned programs <br />fOr the summer of 2009. During our open discussion of many proposals we had a lot of <br />give nand,take about where we should go, Bobbie FiSC.her proposed many events for the <br />Fall season. Among them were: Red Rocks, Lollypops Doll House,and some places to <br /> <br />eat such as Brook Forest Inn, International Buffet, and brunch at Red Rocks. Art SymanskI <br />suggested that the seniors had a great time at the Keystone Sled Ride and suggested that <br />we try to have a wagon rtde this summer or fall. Walt mentioned Heritage Square and Katie <br />got online to find some more info on the suggestion. It has possibilrnes in the Christmas <br />time. On the computer, Katie found that they had a special Christmas show.beginnig in <br />November. That time frame would seem tp be acceptable to everyone at the meeting. <br /> <br />Next, we pored over the 2009 calendar to plan our next serries of meetings: They <br />are as follows:April1 O,June 12,August 14,and October 9. <br /> <br />Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 2:30pm. <br />
