some additional criteria to consider.
is a critical time for Louisville to step forward and
to continue to assert ourselves as a progressive community
investing in a sustainable future. We have many opportu-
nities to make energy improvements and those improve-
ments must be considered long-term investments. Some
examples we are considering include a photovoltaic system
on our Library, an energy-saving pool cover at the Recre-
ation Center, and enhanced street lights with optimum
LED systems.
Curiously enough, we have companies in Louisville
and Boulder County which are regarded as leaders in
providing sustainable services. As many of you know, I
have requested in previous columns to "Shop Louisville"
and now there are local choices for people looking to make
ecological and economic changes. I encourage you to also
look in to the federal tax credits available for sustainable
home improvements and Boulder County's ClimateSmart
Program which provides a voluntary mechanism for
commercial and residential property owners to obtain
efficiency
improvements to properties in Boulder County.
In addition, some could argue that in this financial cli-
mate our efforts.
I would strongly say "Contraire" (or some other responses
is the time for Louisville to invest

in our future and to move forward. We have not reached
our status (perceived or otherwise!) by putting our heads
in our shells. If we are asking our local businesses to make
investments in the future of Louisville, we need to be ac-
tive partners.
A couple of examples of projects which are occupying
a good deal of our attention include the US 36 Envi-
ronmental Impact Statement (EIS), the Northwest Rail
Environmental Evaluation, and improvements to the
Highway 42 Corridor.
Some may question why transportation is important
to answer is clear. If we can't
provide our citizens multi-model transportation choices
and grid lock becomes the rule rather than the exception
(try US 36 Westbound from 7:30 - 9:30 AM), shame on
all of us. We have to continue to press for transporta-
tion improvements in a multi modal sense. Without these
improvements; our quality of life is significantly impacted
and threatened.
is not during
these fine, warm, summer months. Please join me and my
family in enjoying our wonderful community events this
summer such as the Street Faire, Farmers Market, and
July 4th celebration. Most of all please extend a friendly
hand to one another with respect and courtesy, which
would make John Breaux proud.

+ An events calendar that lets the user search by
category (City Council meeting, Liquor Licensing
Authority, Special Events, etc.).
who work with the

+

public.
+ City Council and Planning Commission meeting
agendas, packets, and minutes from 2006 forward.
We hope you like the new site.
