Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
February 21, 2022
Pontasch has lived in this house since 1987. She shows the commissioners photos of
the house as it has been renovated. She explains the process of how she got to the
original siding of the house. She then reviews the various steps of renovations that have
happened to the house. She informs that the original house was a one-story bungalow
style house. She gives the commissioners an overview of the interior renovations and
how they have tried to keep the original character of the house. They have not changed
the original footprint of the house. She is interested in the historical society doing further
investigation of the house, particularly the main part.
Commissioner Questions of Applicant:
Haley says that anywhere they see a double window, there was originally a single
window there, correct?
Pontasch says that is correct.
Burg asks if she is aware of anymore historical history on this house.
Pontasch says that she is hoping that the Superior historical society will be able to help
them with that.
Public Comment:
None is heard.
Discussion by Commissioners:
Burg says that this is an iconic house for Louisville as well as a great location. There
are different pieces of character and structure, similarly to other homes in Louisville. It
does meet the required criteria. She is interested in an HSA assessment.
Haley says that part of the cultural and geographical piece of the house being moved
from Superior to Louisville is valuable for the City. She summarizes why she believes
the house meets the architectural significance.
Dunlap says he appreciates the enthusiasm of keeping the structure and going through
the Iandmarking process.
Keller says he agrees with the other commissioners. He believes that any house that
has been moved should have a structural assessment to make sure there are no hidden
issues.
Dunlap moves and Keller seconds a motion to approve 740 Grant Avenue's request to
find probable cause for a landmark designation to allow for funding of a historic
structure assessment. Motion passes unanimously by a roll call vote.
NEW BUSINESS — PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS
9A. Probable Cause — 741 Lincoln Avenue: A request to find probable cause for a
landmark designation to allow for funding of a historic structure assessment.
• Applicant: Gary Dunlap
• Case Planner: Kim Bauer, Historic Preservation Planner
All notice was met as required.
