<br />COUNCIL ITEMS <br />AMERICAN LEGION -SPECIAL <br />EVENTS LIQUOR APPLICATION <br /> <br />ACCEPTANCE - PUBLIC HEARING <br />SET <br /> <br />TASK FORCE <br /> <br />MOTION TO INITIATE TASK FORCE <br /> <br />Councilwoman Morris <br /> <br />8/16/83 <br /> <br />Page -2- <br /> <br />Councilmembers had a copy of the application; <br />Attorney Rautenstraus advised that the <br />application was in order and that a public <br />hearing needed to be set for September 6, 1983. <br /> <br />Councilman Ferrera moved, Councilman Fauson <br />seconded that the American Legion Special <br />Events Liquor Application be accepted and a <br />public hearing set for September 6, 1983. <br />Question called for. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Meier stated that within the next 4-6 <br />months he would like to appoint a group of <br />citizens representing businesses, industry, <br />residents, etc. to serve on a Task Force <br />for the City, and himself to work on growth- <br />related items; also dealing with growth rates <br />of the past, those of the future and this <br />group will act as a fact-finding force for the <br />City. He would solicit those people wishing <br />to serve ~n the Task Force and those that he <br />would choose because of their expertise in <br />these areas. Wished council's approval to <br />place an ad in the paper for this purpose. <br />The ad to state that the applications be sent <br />in within the next 2 weeks to get the program <br />started. Then have an interim report November <br />1, 1983 and a final report, at the Task Force's <br />discretion, sometime in February or March, 1984. <br /> <br />Mayor Meier moved, Councilman Cummings seconded <br />that council approve the placement of a paid <br />ad in the local paper for people wishing to <br />become members of the Task Force on growth- <br />related items. <br /> <br />Inquired - how large would the task force be? <br />Would they be an advisory committee to the <br />Council? Who makes the appointments? <br />Mayor Meier replied - approximately 20 people. <br />Would require the Task Force to make recom- <br />mendation to the Council as relates to - do <br />we need a growth-management plan and what are <br />the parameters of the growth management plan? <br />Should they be different than those already <br />discussed? To study the water and sewer <br />llissues relative to the timing of our new <br />facilities and the build-out of the size <br />
