Councilwoman Morris

Councilman Cummings

Mayor Meier

_Juncilman Leary

Dennis Drumm, President
Louisville Chamber of Commerce
744 Main St.

Councilman Leary

Louncilman Cussen

6/15/82

Page -4-

City maps,
to all the
committing
projects.

etc. which is of mutual benefit
citizens; also he did not favor
to an annual donation for future

Concurred with Councilman Leary - felt that
a contribution would be appropriate, but not
dues.

Felt that any project done by the Chamber
would benefit the City and dues were appro-
priate.

Commented that he too felt being a member of
the Chamber of Commerce would be beneficial
to the City, as most businesses are members
and sales tax revenues are derived from them.
He also stated Council had authorized $25,000
to redevelop the downtown area, but were not
in favor of giving'$l,OOO to the Chamber of
Cmmnerce to promote the businesses of this
Community, as well as providing maps and
printed material to the citizens.

Commented that the money given to the Louisville
Downtown Redevelopment Corp. was a grant -
not dues, as such; therefore funds given to
the Chamber of Commerce should also be given
as a contribution or grant, and should be
done on a case by case basis.

Mr. Drumm advised that the membership fee is
$100 and any amount over this would )be considered
a grant. The Chamber is in the process ot
budget and peedsto estimate revenues and felt
this would be difficult on a case to case basis.
The members would appreciate a given amount
be committed annually. Their total budget
this year is $15,000.00. Drumm advised
one of the events they plan to sponsor is
the pop stand at the July 4th festivities
which should amount to $500.00. He felt that
the $1,000 from the City would be minimal
for the projects to be funded benefitting
the City.

Suggested that Mr. Drumm come before Council
before budget time and specify definite pro-
jects for their consideration.

Commented he felt it would be more appropriate if
the Chamber's request would fit the City's
budget.
