5/18/2022 <br />The Legislative Role <br />• People in general are most familiar with <br />public officials acting as a "legislators" or <br />"law -makers." <br />• A legislative action reflects general public <br />policy, is usually prospective, usually affects a <br />large group, and affects the legal rights of <br />specific individuals only in the abstract. <br />• The LLA's actions on legislative matters <br />include adoption of Rules of Procedure, <br />training requirements, festival permit rules. <br />The Quasi -Judicial Role <br />• By contrast, a "quasi-judicial" role for a <br />public official is acting as a decision -maker <br />in a proceeding that determines the rights, <br />duties or obligations of a specific person or <br />entity. <br />• Think: "Acting Like a Judge." <br />• You are not an advocate here. <br />F <br />
