City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 1, 2022 <br />Page 2 of 13 <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA AND THE CONSENT <br />AGENDA <br />Christian Dino, 967 Eldorado Lane, asked the Council to make a decision tonight <br />regarding leniency in the building code for rebuilding families. <br />Larry Donner, 1020 Willow Place, stated he feels the costs being estimated to reach net <br />zero on homes is much higher than what staff is presenting. <br />Chris Fuller asked the Council to consider reducing building and use tax fees for those <br />rebuilding from the Marshall Fire. <br />Richard Morgan, 644 West Pine Street, stated the building and construction fair that <br />was held recently was very good. <br />JC Spiers stated she was upset by comments the Mayor made in a recent news story. <br />She asked the Council to consider making changes that would allow people rebuilding <br />from Marshall Fire leniency from the 2021 IECC code. <br />Tawnya Somauroo stated the first priority of the Council should be rebuilding the <br />community and Council should allow leniency in the building codes. These new homes <br />will be far more energy efficient that those that were lost and even without reaching the <br />new code level. <br />Barbara Hickman thanked Councilmember Leh and Councilmember Dickinson for <br />supporting the weekend rally in support of changing the building code for those <br />rebuilding. <br />Josh Cooperman, 216 Griffith Street, noted that on the consent agenda there is an item <br />approving the City's annual fuel purchase. He encouraged the City to move away from <br />the use of fossil fuels as soon as possible. He suggested the City stop mowing non - <br />recreational turf and encouraged the use of electric lawn mowers. <br />Kindra Stockebrand, 824 Trail Ridge Drive, encouraged the Council to help those who <br />are underinsured from the fire, regardless of income level. She noted rebuilding will <br />require some families to take out additional mortgages and affect their finances. <br />Jennifer Obrate, 965 Arapahoe Circle, encouraged Council to start meeting in person <br />soon. <br />APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA <br />Mayor Stolzmann asked for changes to the consent agenda; hearing none she asked <br />for a motion. Motion: Mayor Pro Tem Maloney moved to approve the consent agenda, <br />seconded by Councilmember Most. Vote: All in favor. <br />
