LL ltyf LOCAL LICENSING AUTHORITY MEMO
LuiSviIIe AGENDA ITEM 7-A
COLORADO -SINCE 1.878
SUBJECT: DISCUSSION / DIRECTION REGARDING CORNER MARKET 60
LLC d/b/a CORNER MARKET — 1135 E SOUTH BOULDER
ROAD — FERMENTED MALT BEVERAGE OFF PREMISES
DATE: JULY 25, 2020
PRESENTED BY: GENNY KLINE, AUTHORITY SECRETARY
SUMMARY:
During the course of the renewal last month for Corner Market, it was identified that
there was a discrepancy between the entity holding the liquor license and entity
paying sales tax to the City. Ms. Kelley Kiesling of Messner Reeves LLP had
submitted the renewal paperwork to me, so I emailed her to see if a transfer of the
liquor license needed to be done.
There were multiple conversations between myself, Beth Reid and Ms. Kiesling and
there seemed to be some confusion as to ownership of the store and if the owners
indeed had legal possession of the property as required for their liquor license.
I visited the store the afternoon of Thursday, July 14 with Louisville Police Sergeant
Ben Redard. Due to a language barrier I did not pursue the issue of ownership or
possession and asked instead for contact information for the owner. I also noticed
that the liquor licenses were not posted in public view and stated that had to be
corrected.
Upon returning to my office I left a voicemail message for the owner but received no
response. The next morning Ms. Kiesling was waiting for me at City Hall when I
arrived for work. She apologized for the confusion and said that the owner had
forwarded my voicemail message to her. She said that the issue with the sales tax
would be corrected and asked for copies of the most current liquor licenses. I
reminded her that the lease I had on file was set to expire at the end of July and I
needed an updated lease. Ms. Kiesling left and sent me photos of the liquor
licenses that she had posted in the store.
On July 19, 1 received the renewed liquor license for Corner Market (expiring in
2023) from the state and I forwarded them to Ms. Kiesling. At that time I also
LOCAL LICENSING AUTHORITY
