RESOLUTION NO.36 <br />SERIES 2022 <br />A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CITY OF <br />LOUISVILLE HISTORICAL MUSEUM AND THE CITY'S APPLICATION FOR <br />MUSEUM FUNDING FROM THE SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL FACILITIES <br />DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, in 1983, the City of Louisville ("City") acquired real property at the <br />northwest corner of South and Main Streets as the site for the City of Louisville <br />Historical Museum (the "Museum"), and opened the Museum in September 1986; and <br />WHEREAS, since its opening in September 1986, the Museum has been <br />operating for the purposes of engaging the community, preserving historic collections, <br />and sharing the history of Louisville; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff is in the process of applying to the Scientific and Cultural <br />Facilities District ("SCFD") for Tier III funding which, if awarded, would provide annual <br />grant funding for the Museum; and <br />WHEREAS, to be eligible for SCFD funding, a local government must <br />demonstrate its ownership of an amenity in existence and providing services to the public <br />for at least the past five (5) consecutive years, with the primary purpose of <br />"enlighten[ing] and entertain[ing] the public through the production, presentation, <br />exhibition, advancement or preservation of visual arts, performing arts, cultural history, <br />natural history, or natural sciences"; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Museum satisfies SCFD's criteria for <br />Tier III funding, and thus desires to pass this resolution to demonstrate the same. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />Section 1• The City Council hereby formally establishes the City of <br />Louisville Historical Museum (the "Museum"), as of the date of its opening in September <br />1986. <br />Section 2. The City Council hereby finds that the Museum satisfies the <br />Scientific and Cultural Facilities District's ("SCFD") criteria for Tier III funding on an <br />annual basis, as demonstrated by the recitals of this resolution, which are incorporated <br />herein by this reference. <br />Section 3. The City Council hereby states its strong support for the <br />application by City staff to SCFD for Tier III funding on an annual basis, which funds, if <br />awarded, shall be used by the Museum in accordance with SCFD program requirements. <br />Resolution No. 36, Series 2022 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
