NATIONAL TEACHER DAY <br />WHEREAS, teachers build bridges of learning from our genera- <br />tion to the future; and <br />WHEREAS, teachers challenge our young people to become life- <br />long learners; and <br />WHEREAS, teachers reach out to every student regardless of <br />ability, social or economic background, race, religion, creed or <br />ethnic origin; and <br />WHEREAS, teachers provide instructional opportunities that <br />help prepare the students for the demands of the changing work- <br />place environment; and <br />WHEREAS, teachers help students understand the democratic <br />principles that built this nation and how those foundations of <br />freedom are serving as hope for people around the world; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that May 8, 1990 is hereby <br />proclaimed National Teacher Day - a time for a public salute to <br />teachers who represent An Investment in Excellence in our commu- <br />nity. <br />Signed this 1st day of May, 1990. <br />Herman auson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Donna Cummings, City Clerk <br />
