ellice of tie Mayor <br />TIClautoul-Itr, Totorabo <br />i3riortamatton <br />15 lft:;�- <br />AR <br />WHEREAS, in 1872 Sterling Morton proposed that a special day be set aside for the planting of <br />trees, and; <br />WHEREAS, Arbor Day is now observed throughout the nation and the world, and; <br />WHEREAS, trees reduce the erosion of our precious top soil by wind and water, cut heating and <br />cooling costs, moderate the temperatures, clean the air, produce habitat for wildlife, <br />and; <br />WHEREAS, trees are a renewable resource giving us paper, wood for our homes, fuel for our fires <br />and countless other wood products, and; <br />WHEREAS, trees planted in our city increase property values, enhance the economic vitality of <br />business areas and beautify our community, and; <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville has earned the designation of "Tree City U.S.A." eleven <br />consecutive years as a result of a commitment to excellence in urban forestry, <br />NOW THEREFORE, I, Tom Davidson, Mayor of the City of Louisville, hereby proclaim April 13 - 18, 1992 <br />as Arbor Week in the City of Louisville and urge all citizens to celebrate Arbor Day <br />and to support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands and; <br />FURTHER, I urge all citizens to plant a tree to gladden the heart and promote the well-being of <br />this and future generations. <br />n (vitnell C4Th£2£Of _ hav/e� l2£4£unto id my <br />Rand an caui£d 11 ii SEaL to 6z affixed. <br />
