and confusion as to how we manage the budget with now having less than past years
funds. She also feels like there is a disconnect about what is happening at City Council
because we no longer have a council member present at our LCC meetings - as we did
in past years. Leah wrote to the City Council and heard back from Kyle Brown
(representative from ward 3) and Maxine Most (ward 2). Leah read her letter that she
wrote to City Council. She states in her letter some of her concerns about the budget,
Summer concerts, and the structure of the stage and cost of audio/ performers. Council
Member Most responded and asked the Mayor to triple the budget. Council Member
Brown said that they are going to end up nickel and diming the surplus of the City
Council's budget to accommodate the LCC. Leah asked for an extra 5k stating that that
would be a big improvement.
- JR makes a note that he is frustrated that even with sales of the Jake Leg
concert, we still get penalized in the budget and end up with less funding
because of it. He throws around the idea of even not charging for tickets
and simply paying the artist in hopes that it will not eat into our funding.
Mark agrees that the way that the budgeting of JR stated situation does
not make sense.
b. Leah thanks the team for contribution to the Community Park Summer Concerts.
I. Beth thanked for food trucks, JR for the bands, and the rest of the LCC.
VII. Treasurer's Report (Grace Gee)
- 13490 spent on programing for the summer and youth art so far
- 1 k contracted funds
- She goes over anticipated expenses.
- Grace says there is about $300 saved for extra expenses like coffee and supplies. Lisa
Kihn suggests that we save the $300 for November 14th Ava Hamilton, indigenous
activist event.
- See attachment of budget for further details
VIII. Staff Report (Erica Schmitt) 10 min
a. Update on Zoom/virtual options
- Erica has been working with the City Clerk to see if we could have some opinion
for zoom hybrid.
b. Open Government Training for Advisory Board Members
- 5 members of the board were not able to make it to the training this summer. This
needs to be done once every 2 years. The make up date will hopefully be in
October.
- Other board trainings, like Fair Practices, will not be happening for the remainder
this year.
- Meredith noted that if any members of the LCC are stepping down from their
positions then that is reported to her.
c. Policy for posting mid-term board openings
- Applications for open LCC spaces start on October 3 and close in November.
