Historical Commission selected Madonna to posthumously receive the 2017 Pioneer Award. <br />929 Parkview Street became the home of Joe and Irene Barbara Madonna, and they raised <br />their children there. After Joe died in 1984, Irene Barbara continued to live in the house. She <br />passed away in 2020. <br />In 1992, Irene Barbara Madonna sold property to the north of and adjacent to 929 Parkview <br />Street that Joe Madonna had acquired in the 1950s. This became the Front Court Subdivision. <br />The transaction appears to have included a small section of 929 Parkview and slightly altered <br />the legal description of the property at 929 Parkview. <br />JL <br />w <br />929 Parkview Street, south/southwest (front) elevation — 1952 Boulder Assessors Card <br />ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRITY: <br />929 Parkview Street is a one-story, wood framed, hipped roof, Minimal Ranch style single family <br />home. As is common with the Ranch style, this house has boxed eaves, is absent of dormers, <br />and has asymmetrical massing, a one-story rectangular plan, a low pitched roof, a variety of <br />window types and a shallow front porch at the entrance. Also common for the style is the <br />asymmetrically placed front entry door, which is recessed and is sheltered by the overhanging <br />front -facade roof. <br />While it is common to see Ranch homes have an attached garage to complement their <br />rectangular width, variants on smaller lots will often have them separated on in the rear. These <br />smaller examples of the Ranch type are often called Ranchette, Transitional Ranch, or Minimal <br />Ranch. These styles will lack the size, footprint, or elaborations present in many Ranches, but <br />were also popular homes in America's post -WWII housing boom. <br />Boulder County Assessor records indicate that this house was constructed circa 1952. There <br />have been modifications over time that include a decorative lattice further obscuring the front <br />door and entrance.
