The following photo from circa 1950 shows a similar view, looking south on Main Street <br />instead of looking north. Joe's Metal Shop was on the very northern edge of Louisville's <br />downtown commercial district. <br />The building was set on a concrete pad with a concrete ramp up from Main Street, <br />presumably so that a vehicle could be driven inside, although this is not known for <br />certain. The original low foundation walls and concrete ramp are still in place on the <br />Museum campus. (The low walls are used for seating during Museum events and school <br />tours.) <br />The following photo from the Tomeo family is the only known photo of the interior of <br />Joe's Metal Shop while it was in operation. It was taken within the first two years of the <br />business's operation and shows Dominic on the left and Joe on the right. <br />5 <br />
