The following provides a summary of open space requests and status of action for each
incOlporated community in Boulder County.

STATUS REPORT: 2009 OPEN SPACE Requests

City of Boulder Status Report: The City of Boulder did not submit any new open space acquisition
requests for the 2009 planning cycle, except to indicate its desire to continue joint acquisitions with
Boulder County as previously discussed.

Status: Boulder County and the City of Boulder jointly purchased the I 55-acre AHI Longmont
Farms (Turkey Farm) property in 2008. Boulder County owns the fee and the City of Boulder owns a
conservation easement over the property. Boulder County is currently in the process of having the
majority of the structures demolished and removed from the property.

Town of Erie Status Report:

1. Coal Creek and Agricultural Floodplain Land (Boulder County)
a. Property Owners: Kenneth Kendal King Foundation
Annuit Properties, LLC
b. Location: Southwest corner of East County Line Road and Kenosha Road near
the Erie Village Subdivision.
c. Acreage: Kenneth Kendal King Foundation ~ 16.02 acres
Annuit Properties, LLC ~ 4.10 acres
d. Town Ownership: The Town owns 18.6 acres of Coal Creek corridor
immediately adjacent to both parcels.
e. General Site Description: The site is largely in the 100-year flood plain
directly adjacent to Coal Creek. While there is some mixed grassland bordering
Coal Creek, the site is cultivated. The Coal Creek riparian corridor is fairly
sinuous and dominated by sandbar willow, herbaceous wetland habitat, and
individual native cottonwoods along the banks.
f. Rationale for acquiring this property and how the site fits in the municipal and
county plans: Although this parcel is currently zoned Agricultural and has a
land use designation of Agriculture, the Town of Erie believes that this site
should be acquired and presetved as open space while providing for regional
trail access because:
1. Presetvation of this site is validated by the Town's stated goals and objectives as
outlined in the Town's newly adopted Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan)
and Municipal Code, Title 10.
11. This site is entirely within the 100-year floodplain, a designated high hazard
development avoidancelprotection area that is devoid of structures that may
impede flood conveyance and attenuation.
111. Presetvation of this site would ensure a protective buffer around Coal Creek
corridor that provides critical aquatic, wetland, riparian, wildlife movement,
habitat functions and values including, outstanding views of the Front
Range.

Page 2 . 2009 Community OPEN SPACE Requests - Summary and Status Report
