<br />BARBARA MCDONALD <br />CONTINUED <br /> <br />CITY ATTORNEY REPORT <br /> <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT <br />PUBLIC EMPLOYEES REPORT <br /> <br />September 20, 1977 <br />Minutes - page 2 <br /> <br />Mrs. McDonald stated that if she challenges <br />the law, it will be toward the discrepency <br />of the City and state laws. <br />Councilman Caranci asked what would happen <br />if she got on Council and then is challenged. <br />All of the action they had taken would be <br />illegal. <br />Mrs. McDonald stated that in talking with <br />her lawyer, he stated that any action, if <br />she was challenged, would not be retro- <br />active. <br />Attorney Joss stated that he talked with <br />the Municipal league and they stated to <br />him that there may be a possible conflict <br />and felt there were some cities that <br />allowed persons to run that are residents <br />of a ward, but have not lived there for <br />1 year. They did not give any specific <br />examples. They also stated that there <br />were only 18, statutory cities that this <br />could affect. <br />Mrs. McDonald stated that if her petition <br />is turned down then she would have no <br />choice but to take the matter to court. <br /> <br />Percy Conarroe stated that he did not feel <br />that the rules should be changed for anyone <br />and the matter would be resolved best by <br />going to court. <br />Councilman Dhieux stated that it was her <br />feelings that the City laws should be <br />fo 11 owed. <br />After comments Councilman Caranci moved that <br />who ever runs for Council must live in their <br />ward at least 1 year prior to the election <br />as stated by State Statutes. <br />Seconded by Councilman DelPizzo. Roll call. <br />Domenico yes, Caranci yes, DelPizzo yes, <br />Dilorenzo yes, Dhieux yes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />There was no report by the City Attorney. <br /> <br />Mr. Wurl requested Council's approval for <br />the City to join the Public Employees <br />Group which basically provides continuing <br />information on a regular basis as relates <br />to the status of different labor relations <br />in the metropolitan area. The dues are <br />$200. Mr. Wurl briefly reviewed the <br />services of PEG. After comments Council- <br />man Dhieux moved that Council approve the <br />City.s participation in the Public Employees <br />Group. Seconded by Councilman Dilorenzo. <br />Roll call. Caranci yes, DelPizzo yes, <br /> <br />Dilorenzo yes, Domenico yes, Dhieux yes. <br />Motion carried. <br />
