• Pollinator garden projects in elementary schools - contacting schools <br />• How to deal with pests and weed control -walk on Davidson Mesa to look <br />at weed control strategies for open space <br />o would like to integrate Louisville city's pages <br />• Walked through arboretum; turf in arboretum is not really turf. <br />o Long-term can we create a prairie landscape / more natural <br />restoration of area? <br />o Lots of missing tree signs. Look at adding into budget for future <br />years? <br />o Also add into budget: Xeric/native plants and perhaps some bee <br />houses? <br />• Glyphosate use <br />o Golf course DOES use Round -up (glyphosate) - can we deal with <br />weeds in the fairway another way? Damaging to pollinators, soil <br />biota, etc. <br />o Parks has not used any pesticides since 2020; using organic fertilizers <br />in some spaces but very cognizant of what is being used <br />o Balancing pest management vs. planting more pollinator -friendly <br />plants <br />o Can reduce weed population with proper management <br />• Dark sky lightning ordinance did not pass <br />o Downtown business community concern with retrofitting parking lot <br />which could be costly <br />o No provision of residential light trespass <br />o Street lights are not under control of Louisville (under Xcel); still glare <br />at street level and still trespass on residential properties <br />o We are surrounded by areas that don't have restrictions <br />o Next steps: public education for now; perhaps follow on statewide <br />level <br />o Westcliff, CO went dark sky in 2015 <br />o Killing bugs at night with these lights <br />s <br />
