Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
July 8, 2009
Linda asked if the tendency is to finish a project that is already underway
or to start a new high priority trail. Kristine answered that Boulder County tries to
complete all projects when possible, but that some outside factors may cause a
given project to stall. If a stall occurs then other projects are started.
Kate asked if the Mayhoffer property should be on the open space wish
list. Tina answered yes. Ron added that the Mayhoffer property is certainly on
the Boulder County wish list.
Tom asked how much property is being pursued in the western part of the
county. Ron said that there are plenty of properties that are being pursued and
that they are small parcels that will likely be traded to the Forest Service for other
lands.
Justin asked if Boulder County has recently talked to the Mayhoffer family
about the Mayhoffer property in Louisville. Ron provided a short history of the
relationship with that family and said that there have been no discussions in the
last three to four years.

Develop Board Recommendations for the Annual Open Space & Trails
Request to Boulder County Parks & Open Space
Tom suggested that we start first with the lands request. Linda said that
the Mayhoffer property should be at the top of the list and the rest of the group
agreed. Tom listed the other properties that were added to the wish list by the
OSAB last year.

There was a discussion of how often to contact the landowners about
potential open space. Ember suggested that we should use the OSAB meeting
to come up with a current wish list rather than discuss acquisition strategy.

There was a discussion of whether the Xcel property should be added to
the list and the consensus was yes. And it was agreed to repeat the wish list
from last year and add the Xcel property at the #3 position.

Regarding the trails wish list, Coal Creek to Sterns Lake from
Warembourg was favorably received by Boulder County. There was discussion
of other possible trail requests that would be looked upon favorably. Tom
suggested the Davidson Ditch would warrant a discussion wI the City of Boulder.
The Board agreed to take #1, #2, #3, & #6 off of the wish list. It was agreed to
keep #4 & #5 on the list. #5 was moved to the #1 priority. It was also agreed
that the Callahan Trail using the Burlington Northern railway corridor be kept on
the list and that the safety striping at Hecla be kept.

To recap the trails wish list:
1. 1 04 th St
2. Goodhue Ditch
3. Callahan
4. Highway of South Boulder Rd.
