Sisk congratulated the Chamber of Commerce on their very successful Spaghetti Open. <br />Bill Simmons, City Administrator, stated that the neighborhood meeting for the <br />Warembourg/Daughenbaugh property is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, 1997. Notices would <br />be going out to the neighborhood. <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1262, SERIES 1997 ESTABLISHING A PEDESTRIAN MALL ON <br />PORTIONS OF SPRUCE STREET AND FRONT STREET IN OLD TOWN LOUISVILLE <br />2ND READING (PUBLIC HEARING HELD AT 1ST READING ON 7/1/97) <br />Tanoue read by title only Ordinance 1262, Series 1997, "An ordinance establishing a pedestrian mall <br />on portions of Spruce Street and Front Street in Old Town Louisville." <br />Tom Phare, Public Works Director, stated that this would be closing Spruce Street to Front Street <br />to the Burlington Northern tracks to vehicular traffic and establishing a pedestrian mall. <br />Davidson opened the public hearing calling for anyone wishing to speak on Ordinance No. 1262. <br />NONE <br />Davidson closed the public hearing and called for Council comments or motions. <br />Howard moved that Council approve Ordinance No. 1262, Series 1997, at second and final reading, <br />seconded by Sisk. Roll call was taken. Motion passed by a 7 0 vote. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1263, SERIES 1997 CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR <br />NOVEMBER 4, 1997, TO BE CONDUCTED AS A COORDINATED ELECTION, TO <br />REFER ONE OR MORE BALLOT ISSUES TO A VOTE OF THE REGISTERED <br />ELECTORS OF THE CITY, AND ELECTING TO UTILIZE THE REQUIREMENTS OF <br />THE UNIFORM ELECTION CODE OF 1992 2ND READING PUBLIC HEARING <br />(PUBL. LSVL. TIMES 7/5/97) <br />Tanoue read by title only Ordinance No. 1263, Series 1997, "An ordinance calling a special election <br />for November 4, 1997, to be conducted as a coordinated election, to refer one or more ballot issues <br />to a vote of the registered electors of the City, and electing to utilize the requirements of the Uniform <br />Election Code of 1992." <br />Bill Simmons, City Administrator, stated that if this ordinance is approved, one or more ballot issues <br />will be referred to the registered electors of the City and appear on the ballot of the City of Louisville <br />special election. The wording of the ballot issue(s) shall be provided by resolution of the Louisville <br />City Council prior to any deadline for adoption. <br />3 <br />
