RESOLUTION NO. 66 <br /> SERIES <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION LEVYING GENERAL PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE YEAR 2000, <br />TO HELP DEFRAY THE COSTS OF GOVERNMENT FOR THE CITY OF <br />LOUISVILLE, COLORADO FOR THE 2001 BUDGET YEAR. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Louisville has adopted the annual budget for <br />the 2001 budget year in accordance with the Local Govemment Budget Law, on December 5, <br />2000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the amount of money necessary to balance the budget for general operating <br />purposes from property tax revenue is $1,506,686; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the amount of money necessary to balance the budget for general operating <br />purposes from property taxes abated and refunded is $969; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Louisville finds that it is required to temporarily lower the <br />general operating mill levy to render a refund for $132,808; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 2000 valuation for assessment for the City of Louisville as certified by <br />the County Assessor is $316,260,420; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the statutory property tax revenue limitation (5.5% limit) imposed on the <br />City has been calculated using the information currently available to the City and a tax of 5.187 <br />mills with a temporary mill levy reduction of 0.420 mills complies with said limitations. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the limitation imposed on the City by Article X? Section 20 to the Colorado <br />Constitution, approved by the voters on November 3, 1992, has been calculated using the <br />information currently available to the City and a tax of 5.187 mills with a temporary mill levy <br />reduction of 0.420 mills exceeds this limitation by $74,389. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Louisville will request approval from the <br />voters to retain this $74,389 in excess of the limitation as provided by Article X, Section 20 to <br />the Colorado Constitution, in a November, 2001 election. <br /> <br /> <br />
