He <br />commented that a recent article in the Louisville Times regarding the City's obligation to provide <br />downtown parking indicates a need to complete the Downtown Design Guidelines in order to <br />address parking issues. <br /> <br />MOMENT OF SILENCE <br /> <br />Mayer called for a moment of silence in respect for the families of the Centaurus High School <br />students who lost their lives in a tragic automobile accident this afternoon. <br /> <br />Sisk expressed concern for the recent trend of PUD applicants requesting revisions for additional <br />square footage after their initial application has been approved. He suggested that, in the future, <br />Council give gross square footage approval, with no exceptions. <br /> <br />Howard, Levihn, Keany, and Lathrop agreed with Sisk. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />PRESENTATION - CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLENCE IN <br />FINANCIAL REPORTING AND DISTINGUISHED BUDGET PRESENTATION AWARD <br /> <br />Bill Simmons, City Administrator, stated that the Government Finance Officers Association had <br />awarded the City of Louisville Finance Department two certificates of achievement. A Certificate <br />of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded for the highest standards in state <br />and local government financial reporting. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award was <br />awarded, which is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a <br />significant achievement by the City of Louisville Finance Department.
