<br /> <br />Horticulture & Forestry <br /> <br />Advisory Board <br /> <br />Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Thursday, March 4, 2010 <br />Paramount Room - Recreation Center <br />900 West Via Appia <br />7:00 PM <br /> <br />I. Call to Order-Chair Mike Frontczak called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call-Board Members Present: Mike Frontczak, Kimberly Heestand, Vickie <br />Marra, Meredith Preston-Eddy, Theresa Rounds, Matt Tepe, Ellen Toon. Staff <br />Members Present: Dean Johnson, Chris Lichty, Joe Stevens. City Council Member <br />Present: Dave Clabots. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda-The agenda was approved by all members. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes-The minutes from the February 4, 2010 meeting were <br />approved. <br /> <br />V. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda-No public present. Chris stated <br />that renovation of landscaping at Memory Square has been approved, will be partially <br />funded with lottery funds. <br /> <br />VI. Arbor Day-Tentative time for April 24 tree planting at John Breaux memorial plaza <br />is 10:00 am. Chris will contact Meredyth to coordinate with scheduled time of cleanup. <br />He also plans to dig planting hole soon to determine soil condition and depth of asphalt <br />to be removed; and remove the four existing honeylocusts. <br /> <br />VII. City Council Study Session, Tuesday, April 27-Discussion items will include <br />landscape maintenance issues for both HOA and commercial properties; tree <br />preservation guidelines; future HFAB projects such as the arboretum brick walkway <br />and possibly memorial benches. Joe mentioned reapplication for GoCo grant to work <br />on a comprehensive plan for City parks, trails, and open space. <br /> <br />VIII. April presentations-- "Tree Talk" by Jim Ord is scheduled for Thursday, April 22, <br />6:30 pm at the library. Carol O'Meara is available in April and June for $1 OO/hour or <br />$150/two hours. Theresa will contact her to tentatively schedule April 8 for a talk on <br />tomatoes and heirloom vegetables. Dean will contact LMS principal Adam Fels about <br />reserving the school auditorium for that evening.
