- 1, ,t . --w =ti . <br /> j <br /> MEMO TO COUNCIL---LIBRARY BOARD RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> After careful consideration of its own strengths and <br /> weaknesses, the Library Board selected the two applicants <br /> who seem best to complement and balance the existing Board. <br /> In some cases, abilities among the six overlapped, and we <br /> believe that the two chosen Encompass the broadest spectrum <br /> of the desired qualities. <br /> The two candidates and their respective qualifications <br /> are: <br /> NANCY GAUSS <br /> (To fill the unexpired term of Cece Olsen)` <br /> 1) Nancy's extensive experience in historical data and research <br /> fits a long-held library goal. <br /> 2) She provides a professional knowledge of the inner workings <br /> of library philosophy. <br /> 3) She displays a firm grasp of the intricacies of long-range <br /> planning. <br /> 4) Her warm and tactful manner complements her dcsire to <br /> reach the public and promote the library. <br /> 5) Her interpretation of the role of trustee as a liason between <br /> library and community is consistent with our own. <br /> TIM CROOK <br /> (To fill the expired term of Bea Wilson) <br /> 1) Tim brings new ideas, from encouraging young adult use of the <br /> library to concrete methods of enlarging the scope of <br /> library resources. <br /> 2) His technical and counseling background would add to the <br /> Board's depth. <br /> 3) He displays genuine interest in serving his community and <br /> has a background knowled:e of small towns. <br /> 4) He shows a desire to pursue a public relations campaign. <br /> 5) He has an extensive knowledge of books and has already <br /> proven an active interest in the library. <br /> Suzy Westbrook <br /> .
