Handley introduced the City's two new directors. Thomas A. Mere is the new Director of Public Works and Richard L. Wanush is the new Director of Community Development. PROCLAMATIOI — NATIONAL • POLICE WRU Mayor Meier rest the Proclamation declaring May 15 of each year as "Police Memorial Day." PROCLAMATION — MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETI Mayor Meier declared May as "Multiple Sclerosis Month." LIQUOR LICENSE APPLICATION HOWARD'S COAL. CREEE RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE The Public Hearing for the Liquor License Application wan opened by Mayor Meier. Mr. and Mrs. Howard were present to answer questions. The Public Hearing was continued to the next Council Meeting, May 21, 1985, as there was an error in the Public Notice published in the Louisville Times and has been corrected and action can be taken at the next meeting. Mayor Meier moved that the Public Hearing be continued until May 21, 1985. Luce seconded and the motion woe approved unanimously. JOINT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Steve Anderson, President of the Chamber of Commerce =rslated to Council the response of the Chamber members and business community to the Joint Economic Development Program that was proposed. The general feeling was very positive and favorable to this proposal. Mayor Meier moved that staff draft a contract between the Council and the Chamber of Coamerce and place it on the May 21 , 1985, Council Agenda. Luce seconded. The City's portion of funding will be taken from unanticipated revenue. specifically monies from franchise agreements. Luce asked that the leaguage of the contract would read to have the funding removed from any political involvement now and` in the future. The motion was passed unanimously.
