the City providing a supporting role. The Chamber
will be contacted for a more detailed description. '
Fauson referred to the issue of the traffic light
at the Middle School on Main Street and if it was
still accessary to remain at that location or
should it be moved. Staff has been looking into
this and the need seems to no longer be there and
will probably initiate its removal. Fauson also
commented in reference to a recent editorial in
the Louisville Times that the City is not selling
the Cemetery. Also, the City has no policy of
removing flowers from the cemetery. Due to the
latness of this meeting and the empty chambers, it
was suggested that a press release might be in
order to clear up this misconception.
Mayor Meier moved that the City issue a press
release concerning this item. Fauson seconded .
Leary felt that setting a precedent of issuing
press releases would not be a favorable way to
deal with these types of reports. It is essential
that the people get the truth, however, this may
not be the vehicle to clearup this and other
inaccuracies that have been reported. Fauson
related that this was a concern to people and only
wanted to have this misconception corrected. The
motion was defeated 5-2 with Meier and Fauson
voting yes. Fauson reiterated that this was an
attempt to keep the public informed not to correct
the editor and anyone at the Louisville Times.
"If it is not the Council 's policy to keep the
public informed, so be it. "
Fauson asked Phare of the readiness of the Water
Treatment Plant since we are nearing our peak
demand time. Phare is still projecting a June 1
time to be able to produce water if needed. Some
of the contractual items may not be totally
complete, however , the ability to produce the
water will be, ready by the June 1 date.
Mayor Meier commended Hioco and other members of
staff and volunteers for their participation in
Louisville's Clean-Up Day . It was appreciated
greatly.
Johnson asked that staff bring Council up to date
with regard to Mr. Suitts and Centennial Valley
and relate the nearness of completing negotiations
to have certain areas completed and turned offer to
the City.
ADJOURNMENT Mayor Meier moved that the meeting be adjourned.
Morris seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
12
