Statute. Mayor Meier opened the Public Bearing. Mark Vollmer, 146 So. Polk Ave., Louisville, gave a presentation with respect to the proposed tax increase. Vollmer stated that the CIP included perceived needs, not necessarily real needs and therefore, presented possible alternative sources of revenues. Mayor Meier asked for Public comments in favor of or in opposition to the Proposed Tax Increase. Mons. Mayor Meier closed the Public Bearing. Mayor Meier asked for Council Comments. Lea responded to Mr. Volleer's presentation stating that alternative sources of revenue had been looked at and among the real CIP needs is an extensive drainage program throughout the City. Luce also responded stating that this Council has spent two years analysing alternatives for funding (as have previous Councils). Luce feels that the best, albeit unpopular, approach to solving some of the problems is to adopt the proposed tar increase. Mayor Meier commended Council and staff for "biting the bullet' by seeking solutions which include this proposed tax increase.
